MVPCS '05 - Game #2
Apparently posting the Game #2 results is too much for Boz to handle over the course of the past week, so I'll chime in and put 'em up (it was even his idea to do this!).
Game #2:
Starting Pitchers: Paul Wilson, CIN vs. Woody Williams, SD
Lineup Notes: Freel started at 2B for CIN
*Paul Wilson had all of his pitches working this game. I was throwing a lot of combo off-speed pitches in using my curveball and slider, and as a result I got many weakly hit ground balls as a result. Mixing the respective speeds of the 2 pitches made for like 600 groundballs to either Joe Randa at 3rd or Sean Casey at 1st. As a result of the success of the off-speed pitches, I was able to leave many fastballs up in the zone for swinging strikes because of ball being released at the same point as the curveball, just never dropping down in the zone. Teebee can probably attest to a 91 mph fastball never looking any quicker.
Casey continued to stay hot by going 2-4, and LaRue again added another 2 hits and scoring 1 of our 3 runs. In Game #1, Kearns/Dunn/Randa were 0-12...in Game #2 they produced a little better in going 2-10 with a run and an RBI - at least they hit the ball well this game. Jacob Cruz is now 2-2 as a pinch hitter in this series, collecting his first RBI as well.
For Boz, Brian Giles is still hitting the crap out of the ball, adding another double to his series resume. Loretta continues to struggle mightily at the plate, however he missed a HR on a ball out of the strike zone by inches as Kearns grabbed it on the RF wall. Khalil Greene continues to be impressive and Dave Roberts finally collected his first hit of the series, but other than these guys there just wasn't a lot working for the Pads in Game #2.
